DIY Heart Collage

I'm always looking for new ways to decorate my room and personalize it to make it mine! When I went off to college and had to stay in the dorms it was difficult. There were all these rules and regulations I had to abide by, so I had to get creative with the ways I decorated my room.  I ended up incorporating pictures of family and friends into a heart collage, which I displayed on the blank wall above my desk. It's been comforting to look at when I start to feel homesick. So today I thought I'd share with y'all this quick and simple DIY that you can make for your dorm or bedroom.

Also, I'm moving out of my dorm in May, so before I leave I wanted to do a room tour. Look forward to that post in a couple of weeks!

Materials Needed:

41 horizontal photos

Command strips- they allow photos to stick to the wall without ruining the wall or leaving a mark

Steps:

1.) Lay the photos out on the floor in the shape of a heart before hanging them on the wall so that you can fix and perfect it. To make it easier to construct and more straightly aligned, place the photos down one row at a time. Here is a diagram to help!

**I'd recommend using all horizontal photos if you can because it makes it easier to layout. I used a mixture of vertical and horizontal photos and had a hard time lining up the photos to create a heart. It's still possible to create a heart with vertical and horizontal photos, but it's a lot more time consuming.

2.) Once you've arranged the photos to your liking, snap a photo with your phone or camera. You'll be able to refer back to the photo to make sure you're sticking the photos on the wall in the right arrangement.

3.) Decide where you want the bottom of the collage to start. This is important as you need to make sure that there is enough space on the wall for your collage. Then add a command strip to the back and stick it on the wall. Continue doing this to each picture until you've completed your heart.

I'd love to see your version of this DIY! Tweet, Facebook or Instagram me a photo of yours! And let me know what other DIY posts you'd like to see.
